Two one way ticktes, please

So now for the exciting news. The big news of the year, well not the biggest but its close. Back in December Enrico and I spoke about moving...sniff...sniff...As he has always lived in Italy he wants to experience living in another country. And we can't blame him after all I left Toronto to have a similar experience. I told him I did not want at this moment to return to Canada but would be open to any other country like Dubai....lol. Well his ideal country besides Canada is not Dubai, guess where it is my friends? Starts with an A and ends with an A. That's right AUSTRALIA. Yup we are moving to Australia in September and plan to stay there for a least one year. My profession is high demand in Australia so working should not be problem for me. Enrico also has the possibility to transfer with his company as they have offices in Australia.
As much as I support new experiences I am really sad to leave Italy. I love it here besides all the bureaucracy BS, for me life is easy. I tried to convince him to stay another year but he ain't budging. His mother is blaming me....WHATEVER. As much as Enrico and I have tried to convince her that its all his plan she still blames me....jokes. We started a new blog a few months back which we are dedicated to keep in up to date once we arrive in Australia, check it out http://2heartsinaustralia.blogspot.com/

Stay FAB!

Wow! I am interested to read about how you adapt there. I've heard some rough things about how racist it can be there, but of course I never hold that sort of hearsay as reason to stay away from a place. I wish you two all the best and gosh! it'll be good to live somewhere where there isn't such a language barrier for you, right?

That is big news! congrats. looking forward to reading your POV on your new country. Again you have picked a place where you are going to have some hair issues. :)

I can't imagine racism in Australia being worse than it is in Italy!

Hi I've been a lurker for a while and I think you'll love Australia if you go there with an open mind ready to experience what it has to offer. I think Australia is the best place to live in the world (I'm biased of course being a native) but I'm sure that you too will think the same if you go there and experience what it has to offer. From what I gather you're moving to Melbourne. If this is the case don't cut your hair - I am sure that there are specialist hairdressers given that Melbourne is a very cosmopolitan city! I'm soon returning to my home in Wollongong (I'm in Italy at the mo). Wollongong is not far from Sydney so if you ever want to check out some great beaches let me know!
OK I better stop now cos I sound like a stalker :(

In regards to racism, I don't think it is an issue in larger cities and their surrounding suburbs. As a personal opinion I think Australians are generally more open to other cultures than say Italians (and I must I stress 'generally'). Multiculturalism has had a strong influence on Australian culture and I think generally people are very respectful and open to people from a different background. Yes, we too have our fair share of ignorant extremists but hopefully you will form a network of some really easygoing and friendly Aussies.

sonya, i am not really worried about racism. Bad and good ppl exist everywhere. we are heading to Brisbane as work brings us there. If things don't work out Melbourne is our next stop.

Wow! I know I am really late to the party, but big congrats on your move. It sounds like it's going to be an adventure. I think you're going to have the time of your life.

I also am agreement with you. There are backwards people everywhere in the world that you are going to encounter. The great news is that I've found that the good people far outweigh the bad people so that should never keep a person from travelig somewhere. You have the right attitude. Have fun, and I will be following your adventures on you new blog.
